Introduce yourself to our readers, tell us who you are and a bit more about your business?
My name is Harry Hastings, Founder and Director of Plan South America. We design and run adventures of a lifetime to Latin America and Antarctica. We’re a small team of specialists, split between offices in London and Buenos Aires. I fell in love first with Argentina whilst living in Buenos Aires, then with the rest of South and Central America, before launching the company in 2009.
Why did you decide to outsource web development/design as a small business?
Henry Walton came highly recommended. I found him creative, reasonably priced and a pleasure to work with. For a company our size, it makes sense to outsource this kind of design work and the process is all the more enjoyable if the designer understands the brief and believes in the product.
What is it like to work with a remote team of people?
At times, it’s extremely challenging, but we’ve been doing it for years and have adjusted accordingly. Remote working is the future, so I feel it’s best to embrace it.
What type of tasks do you delegate to the remote team?
We delegate anything relating to SEO or design. We’re constantly making changes to the structure and content of the website, so need a responsive and highly creative team to action the changes.
Why did you choose PrimePixels?
As above.
What is some advice you would give to others looking to outsource work?
Be clear in your own mind what it is you’re looking to achieve. The clearer you are, the better you’ll be able to communicate it. Set short, medium and long-term goals. I also think the personal relationship is important – if the individual or team you’re outsourcing to believes in and is enthused about the project, the more invested they’re likely to be.
