The challenge
Children's Book Project is a fast-growing, volunteer-powered charity working to combat book poverty across the UK, with hubs spanning North Kensington, Birmingham, Oxford and Leeds. Growing that fast meant admin and coordination needs scaling with it, requiring someone dependable and self-starting who could flex around school terms, without the cost and complexity of hiring permanently before the charity was ready to commit.
The solution
Children's Book Project partnered with Outsourcery for flexible administrative support, with an Outsourcerer integrated into day-to-day operations, coordinating volunteers, building centralised systems, and providing reliable resource coverage as the charity scaled into new regions.
The results
The placement worked so well that Children's Book Project made the Outsourcerer a permanent, in-house hire, about as clear a signal of fit as a placement can give. The charity has since gone on to give away its one-millionth book and receive a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
